Pureology
February 2, 2010
Pureology is an all-vegan line with zero sulfates in any of their products.
Scalp Pure
And the first product that I would like to speak to you about today is Scalp Pure is a shampoo and a conditioner for clients who are suffering from of course, dandruff. And with dandruff uh, a lot of times clients tend to use products like Head & Shoulders or Nizoral, and they tend to have drying effects on the hair. With Pureology that’s not the case. These products are ec-, extremely emollient, um, help to slough off the dead skin that is caused by dandruff; while also providing a conditioner to restore the hair’s pH. So that is Pure Dandruff Scalp Pure Shampoo and Conditioner.
Pure Hydrate
Moving on, we’re gonna be talking about Pure Hydrate. And Pure Hydrate is a phenomenal shampoo and conditioner. It’s probably one of their best-sellers. Also, I’d like to note with any Pureology product, the whole line is color safe. And all their products contain sunscreens in them to protect the hair from fadage and external aggressions.
Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner
So, continuing on we’re gonna be talking about Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner. These both contain the Pureology AntiFade Complex. Um, so they have um, a helio-complex in them, and that helps to kinda keep the melanin in from color – the pigmentation; and while restoring elasticity, the hair’s natural pH balance, um, and also hydrating the hair. So Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner – the Hydrate Shampoo has essence of lavender, and the Conditioner has a very nice peppermint um, uh, smell to it, as well as the actual property. So when you’re putting it on a client’s scalp, they tend to feel like a little bit of teeling, tingling or cooling sensation; and that just helps with circulation as well. So Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner.
Purevolume
Moving on, we’re gonna be talking about the PureVolume line, and PureVolume, there’s the shampoo. Um, again, for clients with color-treated hair, but finer hair textures that really wanna maximize the amount of volume that they have. There’s also a light daily conditioner that’s called Pure Hydrate Conditioner.
And we also have the blow drying serum. And this is a really nice product because it’s alcohol-free and it’s meant for clients who you know, blow dry on a daily basis who want a lot of volume. Um, but really wanna protect their hair from getting dried out. So that would be the PureVolume um, serum; and they also have a spray as well. And now the nice thing about the PureVolume spray is it almost has a thickening action. I really like that product um, but it needs to be worked with I, a blow dryer and a brush.
So that’s the conclusion of PureVolume, that has a spray, a serum, a shampoo and conditioner, that all can be used on a daily basis.
Pureology Luxury Line
Moving on to the Luxury line in Pureology, which is Pure NanoWorks. They are using a nano technology, which means smaller hair, smaller molecules in these products so that they really do penetrate the hair shaft. And with the Nano Shampoo and Conditioner, the beautiful thing about this line is that it has truffle oil in it. And that is great, even for clients that maybe have um, scalp issues as well, but not necessarily dandruff. Um, any kind of um, psoriasis of the scalp, seborrhea; the Pure NanaWorks is really great for that because it really helps to kinda soothe the scalp.
And this also can be used as a body wash. So that’s also another nice little clue for clients um; that the shampoo is gentle enough to be used as a body wash. It helps kind of restore ah, vitality to aging hair um, so it’s momost like a skin cream, but for the hair too really kinda help with aging vitality, moisture, everything. So if you’re just one of those clients that has really dry hair, really dry scalp, you’re gonna wanna use the NanoWorks Shampoo and Conditioner.
Pure Purify
Um, moving on, we have the Pure Purify. I love this product. This product is meant for clients who use uh, that swim, or tend to use a lot of styling products – whether it be hair spray, gel, mousse, styling pomades – this really helps to remove all styling products.
Um, also it helps remove medications from the hair. Clients that are maybe coming in for a chemical service, this is great for that. It can be used, I would say not more than twice a week depending on how much product you’re using in the hair. If you’re a swimmer, I recommend that you use it on a daily basis to eliminate any chlorine that has been um, absorbed by the hair cuticle.
So that’s Pure Purify, and that is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a purifying shampoo to kinda cleanse off the scalp and the hair shaft, removing it from dulling residues.
Pure Reconstruct
Um, also what coincides with the Pure Purify Shampoo is the Pure Reconstruct. And the nice thing about the Pure Reconstruct is that if you are stripping out the hair, you wanna follow up with this product because it helps to kinda put back any protein and lipids that have come out. Um, and it’s a really great product because it’s not heavy on the hair and it really helps with split ends and just fragile, bleached, over-processed hair. I would definitely recommend um, the Reconstruct.
And the Reconstruct can coincide with any of the other shampoos and conditioners, whether it’s the Hydrate, the PureVolume, the NanoWorks Shampoo, or the Pure Dandruff; it’s just a really complimentary product and it really helps to kind of restore uh, elasticity back into the hair. And that also does coincide with Pure Purify, but like I said, it’s not nec-, necessity. It’s just based on what your hair needs at any given time.
So that is Pure Reconstruct Repair as well as Pure Purify Shampoo from Pureology.
Color Max
Um, also moving on, we have Color Max, which is a great product. This is a very versatile product. I really like this. This is a spray-in, leave-in conditioner. Uh, it acts more as a detangler than a heavy leave-in, and its great pr-, um, for prior to any sun exposure or salt water, chlorine exposure. You spray this in the hair and it really helps the hair from absorbing any kinda chlorine, and it also protects the hair from color fadage.
AntiFade Complex
So if you tend to be maybe like a rich uh, red-head or really rich brunette and you’re gonna be out in the sun and you’re concerned about color fadage, this would be the best product to spray into the hair. If you’re gonna be hopping into a pool, I always tell my clients to wet the hair down first with fresh water and proceed to spray with the AntiFade Complex. It also can be used on the skin, which is really nice as well. So um, AnitFade Complex is great.
It also, another tidbit that I have for clients is that you can also use this um, maybe on the second day if you decide you didn’t want to wash your hair, but you wanna um, use this to kind of rejuvenate styling products. This is great because it has a lower pH than water. So that is also another usage for this. It’s multipurpose and it also helps agains, protect against ah, thermal styling – blow dryers, flat irons, whatever. But again, spray this on wet hair prior to blow drying or flat-ironing the hair.
So that is the Color Max from Pureology and again, it contains AntiFade Complex.
Essential Repair
Moving on, we have Essential Repair, and Essential Repair is really geared towards clients that have you know, um, just really weakened hair from chemical services. Um, it really helps uh, to put back es-, elasticity. It has pure, organic ingredients such as olive oil, chamomile, um, and these help to kinda you know, restore luster. And there’s biotin, which is also great for the scalp. And this is a really protein-rich shampoo and conditioner.
Essential Repair Treatment
As well, they have a Essential Repair Treatment, and that’s meant for clients that have split ends. Although we all know that split ends are not gonna ever be taken care of with just a product. If you have split ends you have to get ‘em cut off. But this helps them from splitting up further. So Essential Repair – Essential Repair Shampoo again, a concentrated protein-rich shampoo; as well as a conditioner that coincides with the treatment – and that is meant to be used on towel-dried hair. And again, it has a thermal protectant and it protects um, the hair from thermal styling.
So, Essential Repair.
Super Straight
Moving on, we have what used to be called Super Straight. Now Super Straight is a product that was meant to condense volume in the hair to really kind of flatten the hair for clients that you know, have curly, thick, wavy hair maybe wanting to go straight by you know, a blow-out or a flat iron – whatever it may be.
Super Smooth
That product has since been discontinued, so we’re going to be talking about Super Smooth. Now the nice thing that I liked about Super Smooth is that this is really geared towards any client that has rebellious hair and is really looking to soften the hair cuticle and get rid of excess volume. Um, Super Smooth can be used on you know, medium to thicker hair textures, and depending on how frizzy your hair is and your hair is fine, you can probably use it as well. I would just use smaller amounts. This comes in a shampoo and a conditioner, as well as an elixir.
This again, also has the AntiFade Complex, which Pureology is known for; and organic ingredients. All of their stuff is vegan. I like to stress that to clients because we always have clients asking about that, that are worried about sulfates.
Super Smooth Shampoo
So there’s the Super Smooth Shampoo. Put a dollop of that in your hair, uh, lather it through; following up with the Super Smooth Conditioner. And then prior to styling you’re gonna use the Super Smooth Elixir. And those three really kinda work together, so. And they all have intense shine, and they also have heat protective too. So, and they also have the AntiFade Complex.
Okay? So that is our Super Smooth. And that brings us to the end of the shampoos and conditioners that uh, Pureology provides. Again, let’s just do a quick recap.
PureDandruff
We have PureDandruff, and that, of course, contains with, one of the main ingredients, which is zinc. And that helps for clients that are suffering from dandruff and also have dry ends. It’s a nice milky shampoo and conditioner that actually has a very pleasant scent.
Pure Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner
Um, we also have the Pure Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner. And these are for clients that are just lacking moisture after a color service. Um, another thing I’d like to say about Pureology is you don’t have to have color-treated hair to use these products. It’s just that when you do have color-treated hair, your hair tends to need something that’s a little bit more gentle; and that’s what Pureology is all about. Is just really restoring the natural pH of the hair and keeping the integrity intact. So Pure Hydrate again, for dry hair; meaning lacking moisture.
NanoWorks Shampoo and Conditioner
We have the NanoWorks Shampoo and Conditioner. This is their Luxury line. Again, this contains ah, truffle oil in it. And this is again, for clients that are lacking hydration, lacking protein, and maybe also have problem scalp. It also can be used as a body wash. Um, and it c-, also can be used on babies as well. So love NanoWorks; probably one of the best products in their whole line.
Moving on, we have the Pure H-, Volume Shampoo and Conditioner. Um, again, of course, to build up volume while protecting ah, color-treated hair. And then we had the Pure Purify Shampoo – again, to eliminate any dulling residues, whether it be from styling products, chlorine, chlorine, salt water, um, or just any external elements.
We have the Reconstruct Repair, which is the heavy dosage of protein that Pureology makes. And that it, can be, can be, can be combined with any of the other shampoos and conditioner in this line.
We had the Color Max leave-in spray, which I was ah, talking about earlier. It is a detangler, a uh, sun and UV protectant, as well as a thermal protectant. It goes on the hair, wet, preferably. Um, but again, great to be used on the skin as well.
And then we had the Essential Repair, and this is the highest dosage of protein that ah, Pureology makes. Along with the olive oil and the chamomile that was in it to really kinda soothe the hair shaft and put it back into its natural state; um, followed up by their Essential Repair Treatment.
Now we’re gonna be talking about the styling products. And the styling products in Pureology consist of quite a few things. We have um, number one, the p-, Instant Repair. And now Instant Repair is a s-, is nice because it’s a leave-in conditioner that’s very light. It goes on almost kinda fluidy, but if you use enough of it you can actually get a hold out of this product. And this has a thermal protectant, and it has AntiFade Complex in it as well. And it’s a great um, leave-in conditioner for curly-haired clients; anybody. Anybody that just needs a good daily leave-in that doesn’t want anything too heavy. Pure, Instant Repair is gonna be the product for you.
Pure DryShine Styler
Then we have um, our Pure DryShine Styler, and this is meant to be used exactly what it says – when the hair is dry. And kind of as you know, a finishing touch. Maybe to add some piecey separation, texture; um, but without the hold of like a, a matte wax or anything like that. So Pure DryShine Styler again, meant to be used kind of on the ends. It can be used on fly-aways. A little goes a long way with this product. I really like to stress that.
Pure GlossingMist
Moving on, Pure GlossingMist. And this can be used prior to blow drying. Um, also can be used at the very end of a, a styling. Ah, you can spray this on the hair and it adds intense shine. Um, it’s called Pure GlossingMist; followed by Pure HoldFast Gel. And this gel is I would say a medium hold.
It says that it, i, it’s kind of one of these products where it, once you put it in, it dries relatively fast. So you kinda gotta know what direction you’re going in with your hair. But it’s good for a client that has thick hair or hard-to-hold hair and really just wants to get in and get out and doesn’t have to wanna wait too long for their styling product to dry. This is a product for your, for you. It’s Pure HoldFast Gel.
TextureTwist
Um, we also have a um, TextureTwist. This is a great product. I really like this. This is meant to be used on dry hair, and a lot of our male clients use this for texture, pieciness, separation. And the nice thing about TextureTwist is that it comes out in a um, kind of a cream consistency, but what you do is you slap your hands together and you get this nice web – fibered web – and that is what holds the style into place. It has a shine to it, so this is not for the client that wants a matte look. It’s definitely a shinier product, and it also can be used to build volume in the hair, and texture.
Pure InCharge Hairspray
Um, then we have um, Pure InCharge Hairspray. I really like this product because it is a light hairspray, um, but it’s workable. So you can use your curling iron. If you decide you messed up you can comb it through and you’re not gonna have any flaking or anything like that again. This also has the um, AntiFade Complex as well, and thermal protectant.
Pure InCharge Plus
And moving up, we have Pure InCharge Plus. And that is a hard-hold hairspray. Once you spray it, you really don’t wanna move the hair because it can get a little crunchy. So you really gotta be careful that you’re just using it to set your style.
Pure NanoGlaze
Pure NanoGlaze is a very interesting product that is a cream consistency product. And that is meant to help ah, smooth, ah, frizz, fly-aways. And you put this product in prior to blow drying. It’s a heavier hold. I like to recommend this for clients with um, medium to thick textured hair. And it really helps to kinda protect and give a really smooth blow-out. And that’s called Pure NanoGlaze.
Pure NanoWax
Um, then we have Pure NanoWax, and that is a matte finish wax. Very natural um, shine. There’s not a, a heavy shine to it. It’s not gonna be a pomade or anything. Um, TextureTwist would have more shine than that. So NanoWax is great for clients that want to piece out their hair, but really want the hair to still look a little on the matte side. Great for male clients um, or any pixie haircuts – Pure NanoWax.
Pure PowerDressing
And then we have Pure PowerDressing. Now PowerDressing is probably the firmest holding gel in this line, and it has mica crystals in it so it does enhance shine. I would recommend using this on wet hair and really blowing it through, whether ah, you’re, sh-, got, l-, short hair, long hai-; longer-haired clients probably don’t wanna use this unless you don’t mind a lot of uh, texture to the hair. Um, guy clients can use it. It does have high-shine to it again, because of the mica crystals.
Pure RealCurl
And then we have RealCurl – Pure RealCurl. This is a great uh, curl enhancing cream. It has the AntiFade Complex again; and it is meant for curly-haired clients. Both anywhere from fine to thick hair, just depending on your usage; and it can be used alone or I always like to recommend clients to use this with the Instant Repair. Um, and it just really helps to kinda define the curl.
Pure RootLift
We have Pure RootLift, and this is exactly what it i-, says. It’s a aerosol root lifting spray. You spray this directly on the roots and proceed to blow dry and you’re gonna get a nice lift right there. So this is not a thickening product, this is just specifically to aim for volume from the roots. And it needs to be worked through because it can get a little sticky if you don’t work it through properly.
Pure ShineMax
After that we have Pure ShineMax. This is a great product. This is a silicone-based product, and this can be used prior to blow drying the hair. Um, just for clients that tend to have a little bit of frizziness when they blow dry. This will help to kinda seal down the hair and seal down the hair shaft. And now it also can be used afterwards to s-, uh, finish off, polish off the style if you don’t want to use like a hairspray or any kind of pomade or anything like that.
Pure SprayGel
Then we have Pure SprayGel. I have clients – my curlied-haired clients – particularly like this product. Those that don’t tend to use um, creams or mousses. This can go spray in and diffuse and you really get a nice amount of hold without any frizz, and it’s alcohol-free – as with most of Pureology’s products. Actually, I think all of them are alcohol-free. If they do have alcohol, it is fruit-derived alcohol. That’s something that I always like to stress to my clients; that most of the times when you have alcohol in a product, it is meant just to keep the, the product on the shelf longer – acts as a preservative. But Pureology, I would say that 90% of their products do not have any alcohol. Um, so except for the hairsprays – aerosol, that is.
Pure StylingLotion
Okay, moving on, we have Pure StylingLotion and this is a great product. This is meant for clients who don’t want a gel, who would not be using the HoldFast Gel, or for instance the Pure PowerDressing, but really want to be able to set their hair. Maybe blow dry and just have a light holding gel.
This is great for curly-haired clients. Actually, I always recommend that my curly-haired clients use um, the RealCurl and um, mix that in with the Pure StylingLotion. That’s gonna give more hold. It’s gonna really kinda set the hair, and it’s gonna give you a wet look. Um, using the RealCurl alone, you’re not gonna have that. So, that’s Pure StylingLotion, and it can be used to set the hair with rollers as well.
Just um, to give people a little insight, it has a very ah, runny consistency. A lot of people like that, especially clients with finered hair textures.
So, we just gonna do a really quick recap on the products that I spoke about.
Pure Instant Repair
We spoke about, in the styling line, Pure Instant Repair, which is a phemonominal leave-in. It’s a very light-weight, clear, liquidy leave-in, and it can be combined with any of the other styling ;product. Really helps um, to re-, protect the hair against thermal damage and repair the hair as well, from any kind of ah, chemical treatments that have been done.
Pure DryShine
The Pure DryShine styler. Again, exactly what it says. On dry hair, kind of when you’ve maybe blow dried or done anything, or curled the hair and you wanna piece it out, you’re gonna use this product and it’s gonna add a l-, a lot of intense shine.
We had the Pure GlossingMist, which was, can be used on wet or dry hair. And that’s gonna um, promote a mirror-like finish.
HoldFast Gel
HoldFast Gel, which was the gel that was kinda in between the PowerDressing and the StylingLotion. And again, that is gonna, for the client is, that wants a medium hold and knows exactly what they’re gonna be doing with their hair, because this product does dry very fast.
We have Pure InCharge Hairspray, and Pure Incharge Hairspray Plus. InCharge Hairspray is a workable spray; as the InCharge Plus is more of a freezing spray, and that’s to set your style.
The Pure NanoGlaze, which is basically a very versatile styler. It’s a conditioner, it’s anti-frizz, and it’s a thermal protectant for medium to thicker hair s, tex, textures that tend to do blow-outs or any kind of m-, work – a lot more work with the blow dryer – and it does give a little bit of a hold.
And then there’s the Pure NanoWax. Again, that’s more for the pixie cuts, ah, or male clients that have like a lot of separation but don’t want a lot of shine in the hair. That’s ah, Pure NanoWax.
And then we move on to the PowerDressing, which is the firmest holding gel in this line, and again, it does have the mica crystals in it so it promotes a lot of shine. You’re gonna get the wet look with this product.
Um, the Pure RealCurl. The curl cream that can be mixed with the StylingLotion, the Instant Repair – it’s very versatile. Used alone you’re gonna get more of a natural finish and a natural touch. Mixing it with any of the spray gels or the StylingLotion, you’re gonna get a little bit more of a wet look and maybe a little ah, stiffness to the hair.
Pure RootLift – again, we spoke about that. That is a product that goes directly on the roots, and needs to be worked through with a blow dryer and a brush or else it can, tends to get a little crunchy.
Then we have the Pure Shine Max. And that are the silicone drops that you put into the hair prior to blow drying or any kind of heat activity. Or even if you are a client with frizz and you have curly hair, you can mix that up with the RealCurl and cocktail those two products.
And SprayGel – again, exactly like, it’s a lighter version of a gel, but it’s goes on like a spray and really it’s, you’re workable and it really helps to define curls. Or for clients that like to use a spray gel to blow dry, this product is for you.
Also we have the Pure StylingLotion, which has got a very liquidy consistency. Again, I like to have my clients mix that with the RealCurl. Um, or it can be used alone to set the hair. That’s the Pure StylingLotion.
And then Pure TextureTwist. That was the web-like, that comes out in a pump almost in a cream consistency, but when the hands are slapped together and pulled apart, you get web-like textures – web-like strings – and those strings are what actually hold the hair into place and build texture. And this does have shine to it.
And then also, just to speak on it really quickly, we’re talking about the Pure Amp Volume. And that is the blow drying um, the blow drying, uh, serum for finer hair. And that’s meant to give a really full blow-out.
And then also, the Pure Volume Spray. I think that might be Pure Thick, and that one is for ah, very fine hair. But it’s also to thicken actual hair strands, and that also be, needs to be used with a, ah, blow dryer.
And that brings us to the end of Pureology.
Thanks.
